2020 Cincy HS Invite

The 2020 Cincinnati HS Invite will be held April 4th, at Lake Harsha in Clermont County, OH. The race features a 7-lane fully buoyed course, starting docks, spacious trailer accommodations, and ferocious competition.

Directions to Harsha Lake

Directions to Harsha Lake, East Fork State Park – using Rt. 125

  • From I-75 or I-71 southbound, take I-275 East (South) to Beechmont Ave. – Rt. 125E
  • From 1-75 or I-71 northbound, take I-275 East (North) to Beechmont Ave. – Rt. 125E.
  • I-275 East/North to Beechmont Ave. – Rt. 125. Exit (#65).

Follow Beechmont Ave – Rt. 125 East – for 9.5 miles. You will pass through Withamsville, Amelia and Mt. Holly. The road will change names – Stay on Rt. 125 East. Note: As you pass through Amelia watch for 25 mph zone, it is closely patrolled, even at 6am!

The park turnoff is about 2 miles past the Verbargs Furniture Store on the left.

At Bantam there is a light – turn left onto Bantam. Look for ‘Welcome Rowers’ sign. Drive .2 mile to the East Fork State Park entrance. Turn left into the park, and follow the signs to the Beach.

Drive about .9 mile, passing a cemetery and church on the left. Turn left where the park signs indicate the Beach and continue on for .6 mile to the lake. You will go down a small hill, and the lake will be in front of you. The park is roughly 1 hour east of Cincinnati.

The Girls Varsity 8+ had a similarly close finish. After a strong start in the final, New Trier battled with Cincinnati Juniors and St. Louis during the race, but Cincinnati took control by about 1,000 meters.
New Trier couldn’t hold St. Louis off during their sprint, but ended with a respectable 3rd place behind Cincinnati 1st and St. Louis 2nd. NT was 3.0% off the winning time of 7:07.10 with a time of 7:19.8, just 1.7 seconds behind St. Louis.

Rowing Invitational Launches Saturday

It may not be Hilton Head, but there’s water and a beach and – weather permitting – some sun.

The Cincinnati High School Rowing Invitational is Saturday, April 11, at East Fork State Park in Bethel.

There’s a lot of racing to see, said Andy Piepmeier, head varsity girls coach for the host Cincinnati Junior Rowing Club. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
